Know where I stand

I’m running for the Milton 1-year Selectboard seat, and I’ve been trying to keep my focus where it belongs: local issues and good town governance.

However, I also think voters have a right to know how a candidate would respond if a national issue landed right here in Milton. We live just a few miles from the Canadian border. It is not hard to imagine a day when federal immigration enforcement is present in our area and Milton residents show up to protest.

If Milton ever found itself in a moment where ICE and local protesters were face-to-face, my position is clear.

I support the First Amendment, period. People have the right to peacefully protest, speak their opinions, and be heard. As a Selectboard member, I would stand by that right regardless of politics and regardless of who is doing the silencing.

From a Selectboard perspective, I also believe you can protect constitutional rights and protect public safety at the same time. That means clear expectations for peaceful assembly, de-escalation, and making sure Milton does not treat people differently based on viewpoint.

You may agree or disagree with me, but you will always know where I stand: the Constitution applies in Milton, too. I want every resident to feel safe speaking up, even when we don’t all see things the same way.

Thank you for your trust and your vote.
